Description: MEES was responsible for preparing and submitting to the BIA, Pawnee Agency, National Environmental Protection Agency documents to support approval of farming and grazing (Agriculture) leases that will encumber trust restricted Indian lands under the jurisdiction of the Pawnee Agency. The NEPA documents included an environmental assessment (EA), Section 106 of the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP) consultation documents, and Section 7 of the Endangered Species Act (ESA) consultation documents.

Description: This contract requires providing support for two in-person tribal advisory committee meetings a year, one tribal consultation session, monthly conference calls, communication with tribal leaders, and overall project support. MEES maintains regular communications with tribal leaders and tribal staff who are members of the NIH Tribal Advisory Committee. Coordination of logistics for the meetings and agenda development is also a responsibility of MEES. Besides, MEES supports NIH by coordinating an annual tribal consultation session and works in partnership with national Native organizations to host the event at other large national Native events.

Description: MEES worked closely with the Office of Intergovernmental and External Affairs/Tribal Affairs and the Regional Offices to support the consultations. MEES provided support for the 2018 Regional Tribal Consultation Sessions through this task order (and has provided support for consultations from 2010 to 2017 via other contracts). MEES provided a writer/transcriber at each consultation session who developed meeting report deliverables such as transcripts, detailed summaries, and executive summaries. MEES utilizes it knowledge of tribal governments and HHS programs to ensure the summaries produced are relevant, accurate and informative. For 2018, MEES also coordinated the logistics for regional grant training sessions at 5 locations across the country under this task order.

Description:
Since the inception of the HHS Secretary’s Tribal Advisory Committee in 2010, NAMS and then MEES has provided audiovisual, writing, and 508 compliance support to the committee. One of our professional writers has been on-site for each of the quarterly meetings taking notes and has produced an executive summary, detailed meeting notes, and talking points to assist the committee. Careful attention to action items and recommendations provided by tribal leaders are captured in the deliverables. A thorough editing review is provided as part of quality control to ensure tribal names are spelled correctly. After the HHS Office of the Secretary, Office of Intergovernmental and External Affairs approves the meeting deliverables, then MEES produces 508 compliant versions for posting on the IEA website. This contract covered 2 meetings in the Washington, DC Area and 1 meeting in Fairbanks, AK during 2018.
